Pedestrian hit by car in Belfry Walmart parking lot

Pedestrians have the right away. But that doesn't give them the right to walk straight out the door into the road, which people often do. They have the right away IF traffic isn't already traveling. cars do NOT have to come to a stop just because someone is on the sidewalk waiting to cross nor do they have to stop just because the pedestrian wants to stroll right out into traffic. The term "the pedestrian has the right away" refers to IF the pedestrian is already in the crosswalk and a vehicle then appears only then is that vehicle required to stop. But again, that doesn't allow the pedestrian to stroll out into moving traffic where the vehicle has to slam on their brakes to stop for them. and before anyone tries to argue about this, look up KY crosswalk laws. Likely this person did come straight out the door into traffic and the vehicle didn't have time to stop. Meaning it's the person's fault. But the cameras will say for sure
