A strangulated hernia is a life-threatening medical emergency that occurs when tissue (like intestine) pushes through a weakened abdominal wall and gets trapped. The surrounding muscle clamps down, cutting off the blood supply to the trapped tissue, which causes it to die. You need emergency medical attention immediately.🚨 Emergency SymptomsGo to the nearest emergency room if you have a known or suspected hernia and experience any of the following:Sudden, severe pain that quickly intensifiesA hernia bulge that turns red, purple, or darkNausea and vomitingFever or chillsThe hernia cannot be pushed back into the abdomenInability to have a bowel movement or pass gas (a sign of bowel obstruction)
