My Father was at The Laurels 36 years ago. He had a massive heart attack and EMS was called, and after getting him loaded into ambulance, he had 2 more. When they finally had him stabilized enough to take him to “the hospital”, a young CNA slipped into the Recreation Room and called me on the phone in there. The Nurses weren’t going to contact me until the hospital let them know his condition !!! God bless that CNA. I got to the hospital and up to ICU, just as they were about to insert intubator tube down his throat !!! He smiled a weak smile at me through the window and I waved, then had to go wait til they had him all set up. That was an experience I could write another book about, and may. Most Nursing Centers do not follow protocol or simple rules to care for the patients or to respect them as human beings. One in ten Centers are very good. The rest should be watched closely.
