The City of La Junta collects taxes to ignore infrastructure that might keep their citizens safe. Just like the "cottage industry" that is "drug treatment" paid by State grants and no one ever gets better Or the fire hydrants that fail because they are never tested.

It took almost 20 years to put a few nrw stop signs on a few streets. They do not care.

Sidewalks are in shambles. People in wheelchairs are rolling down the middle of streets. Meanwhile, there is a City Ordinance that says the City Council can approve sidewalk repairs and bill the homeowner or business. They won't even do that.

Home owners can request sidewalk repair . The homeowner foots half of the bill. People here just do not have that kind of money. My neighbor has his sidewalk done and his half was $1800. The contractor did a crappy job. They tore up his grass and left. He had to call the city and tell them to come back and fix his yard.

That's what the City Manager says. But, the actual City Ordinance says that the City Council can approve the installation of sidewalks and bill the property owner for the costs. And by Colorado State Laws, the only spot in town the City Council can't do that is the 2 railroad underpasses on the west part of town.
