By Action Eye News LIVE PALM SPRINGS, Calif. — At approximately 11:35 a.m. Monday, Palm Springs Police were dispatched to the 2800 block of Vista Chino Road following reports of an officer-involved shooting involving a state parole officer. According to initial information, the incident began when a state parole officer attempted to take a parole suspect into custody. During the encounter, an altercation broke out between the officer and the suspect. A witness at the scene told Action Eye News LIVE that the suspect did not appear to have a weapon, but continued to advance toward the parole officer with his fists partially clenched, reportedly expressing frustration about the officer’s firearm being aimed at him. Moments later, a struggle ensued, and one gunshot was fired, striking the suspect in the stomach. Emergency medical personnel were dispatched immediately, and AMR paramedics transported the wounded suspect toward the hospital. However, during transport, the ambulance was involved in a collision near Sunrise Way and Vista Chino, just one intersection away from the original scene. Authorities confirmed that a police officer, a firefighter, and the suspect were all inside the ambulance at the time of the crash. All three were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
